God has given us the desire to subdue and have dominion over things. Read Genesis 1-3. That is why we can be very competitive, have the desire to win, to succeed and to acquire wealth. But that was all intended by God to establish the Kingdom of God on the face of the earth. Starting from the Garden of Eden, where human was ruling and reigning with God.
But because of sin, people start to focus on their “own desires, greed and lusts”. That is why many people today are trying to gain wealth, fame, become successful but all for the wrong reasons… for their own gain instead of bringing glory to God.
This has brought to them a curse instead of blessing. That’s is why we see so many celebrities and wealthy people today not feeling contented at all with the material things and the status they have.
But we thought they have it all? The money, the fame, the “bling” and even the girls? But we often see many of them suffer from depression, drowning themselves in alcohol, drugs and even sexual immorality. Some even would even commit suicide.
Please, let us remind ourselves… That money, fame and wealth should not take the place of God in our lives. It is good to be successful, influential and even to be famous. But let us remind ourselves that we are supposed to be a reflection of God, since we have been made in His image. So that we may be “His Glory!”
Let’s get our focus right… Live for the Kingdom of God and you will live as kings under the authority of Our Lord Jesus, who is the King of kings (us as little kings)! But if we live just for our own greed and lust, we will live as slaves to the system of this world!
